Soley – Black male mix, 2 years old, 60 lbs

Need some sunshine in your life? Someone to cuddle with, run with, play ball with? Look no further, I am Soley, Icelandic for sunshine, and I am looking for a new family that needs a ray of sunshine. My life hasn’t always been so bright. I was found wandering the orchards and wound up in doggie jail. I was there just a short time when the Defenders of Dogs shined their light on me and beamed me to a new home full of love.

I’m a young lab with LOTS of energy. I love to play with my foster brother, we wrestle, chase balls, and play tug of war from sun up to sun down. I love toys but I destroy stuffed animals quickly, I’ve got to get that evil squeaker out of them. Sometimes I have a hard time telling the difference between toys and pillows so my foster family hid them all from me. I’m fast as light when it comes to learning, I know sit, wait, and off. I’ve gone on walks with foster brother, he’s a mellow walker but I need to smell the sunshine in every flower. The best part of my day is being with my people, mostly at their feet but foster Dad lets me sneak a quick cuddle on the couch when Mom’s not looking.

Soley is a young lab with lots of energy that needs to be channeled. He is fine with dogs his size that can match his energy. He is very prey driven, cats are a no no. Soley is house trained and has learned how to use the doggie door. He sleeps all night in a crate and during the day would love to lie on your feet. He’ll put a paw on the furniture just to test your seriousness, if you let him, he’ll be in your lap snuggling and kissing, replacing any gloominess with sunshine. He is working on obedience commands and leash manners and would really like to find a family that will continue to invest the time in more training so that he can be the best he can be.

Soley is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is currently being fostered in a home with two other labs, a cat, and a tortoise. Due to his prey drive, applications with cats or small animals will not be considered. He is very loving and wants to please. It will be important that everyone in the household be able to reinforce his training and give him a consistent message. If you have room in your heart and home for this ray of sunshine, please fill out an online application.
