Tom Sawyer  – Black Male, 3 years, 65 lbs.

Tom Sawyer here, Sawyer to my friends, and I want to know who’s ready for an adventure!  There is a great big world out there and I know it has a family out there looking for just such a one as I – handsome, sweet, and kind.  A family full of fun and ready to write a perfect story about a dog named Tom Sawyer and his family!  So far, my story’s been kind of sad but with a family by my side, it’s set to be grand!

Now, let me get the sad part of my story out once and for all, and then I’m ready to leave it forever in the past, the chapters forgotten.  You see, I had an owner who neglected me, left me in the back yard alone, the last time for over a month when he left the state!  So, what’s a boy to do when left on his own but to seek his own fun?  Really, I just wanted someone to love!   I tried so many times I was known at the shelter.  The last time my owner said he wouldn’t come back for me and I ended up with the Mark Twain of rescue – the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno – and they have promised me a happily ever after!

So now as I wait patiently in my foster home, I am learning so many new things!  Like how nice it is to come inside the house and be part of a family!  The doggy door and crate were no sweat, and very easy to learn with the help of my furry new four-legged friends.  I love being part of a pack, kids, dogs, all shapes and sizes!  I’m quick to learn and already know sit and down.  When I’m hungry I like to gently remind you its feeding time by bringing you my bowl!  And I am up for adventures of all kinds – walks, car rides (can I sit in the front seat?) But most of all I like to be petted, I have three years of none to make up for after all!  So, won’t you be part of my story?  Let me be a member of your family?  I promise I am a very good boy with nothing but oodles of love to share!

Sawyer is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  He is young, sweet, crate and house trained.  He gets along with other dogs of all shapes and sizes.  Like all young Labs, his perfect family would give him plenty of love and exercise.  There is no cat in his foster home, so it is unknown on cats.  He is learning his basics, is house and crate trained, but due to his early neglect will need more training to be the perfect Pup.
